Aisling Leonard knows how personal decorating a home can be for someone, especially during the holidays. She’s the creative mind behind Ash Leonard Design, so she’s used to helping people create spaces that perfectly fit their lifestyles. Having moved to St. Louis from Ireland, she also understands how important it is to make a space feel like home. Not surprisingly, her Ladue home truly shines during the winter months, providing the perfect backdrop for making holiday memories.

Ash Leonard uses texture to create cohesion in a new kitchen design

The owners of a traditional two-story home in Ladue wanted to give their kitchen a fresh look without changing its footprint. They enlisted designer Aisling “Ash” Leonard, owner and principal of Ash Leonard Design, to thoughtfully blend existing architectural elements and modern materials.

I designed this fresh and classic kitchen around a treasured piece of artwork the clients had, which influenced the navy island. The subway tile seems traditional, but there's a faint crackle to it that imparts. Modern edge. Wide-plank white porcelain tile echoes the large apron sink-which we call a Belfast sink in Ireland. Because everything was so neutral, I wanted custom pendants that popped, and there's a larger, matching white one hanging over the dining table.
